I got my degree from CalPoly SLO in Soil Science in 1979. I am a bit of a health nut and a gardener. Not only does it cover the basics of soil, it ties soil to the human body in such away that you really understand our need to preserve soil fertility, physically, biologically, and chemically. You need all three. I use book darts (https://www.bookdarts.com) to mark important information. I counted 2O! I flipped through the book and remembered how impressed I was with both range and depth of the coverage. Just explanation of tilth alone makes the book worth buying.

This is a great book to get to know your soil and how all life in the soil is interconnected, excellent chapters on composting , rot vs decomposition, also rock powders are covered and how they are a great benefits to the soil. Also covers the connection of the soil biome and the human gut micro biome and how we are very dependent on healthy nutrient dense soil for our own health and well being. This is a great book to understand soil, how it is alive if taken care of properly, also,covered are minerals and their role in soil balance and health. I think this is a good companion to Rudolph Steiner’s work, it’s all about nutrient rich soils and a healthy relationship to the soil and the land that sustains us.
