
Ann Adams: Improving Results for Farms & Ranches with Holistic Management
This workshop addresses the value and benefits of including Holistic Management tools and skills to manage your farm or ranch. In a challenging business, with elements beyond your control, success requires more than determination. Learning to observe, understand, and make decisions, based on what you can control, is essential. Holistic Management improves your ability to withstand nature's challenges and to increase the productivity of your farm or ranch.
Participants will be able to:
• Use key testing principles for managing and making sustainable decisions
• Use their knowledge of ecosystem process health to better manage farm production systems for the triple bottom line: economic, environmental & social benefits
• Clarify farm or ranch goals and utilize new ways to manage them
• Analyze tools to increase farm or ranch productivity

Ann Adams is director of community services for Holistic Management International. In that role she has designed and implemented training programs for both trainers and practitioners. She regularly teaches classes and offers consulting in Holistic Management for family farms and ranches with a particular focus on goal setting facilitation and financial planning and small acreage grazing. Trained as a mediator, she also has experience with other conflict resolution processes that she brings to her facilitations. She has also been a certified educator for Holistic Management International since 1998 and has written countless articles, helped develop agriculture-based software for financial and grazing planning, and written a training handbook, At Home with Holistic Management: Creating a Life of Meaning, published in 1999. She owns a small farm in the Manzano Mountains, southeast of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she raises goats and chickens.
