Larry Zibilske, Ph.D.: Sulfur Nutrition of Crops: Vitally Needed but Often Overlooked
Sulfur is often considered a minor nutrient, however it is a vital nutrient for plants and animals. It is also unique among nutrients for additional reasons. It can be used to modify excessively high soil pH and thereby improve the availability of other nutrients for plants. The acidification of soil by sulfur application also affects soil structure and permeability. Sulfur sources, methods of application, and best management practices for optimum uptake into crops will be presented.
